Mumpreneurs

My first post! I'm so excited. I've been wanting to start a blog for such a long time and in between 2 kids, a husband, 2 businesses and all that goes on around them, it hasn't happened. Until now, I've decided that this is the year for me and I've even picked out my own personal motivating mantra...Make It Happen!
So why title my first entry 'Mumpreneurs'? Like it or not, this word is the latest in a series of increasingly occurring buzz words. Let's face it, some work better than others. Regardless, it is clear that we seem to have an incessant need to combine two words into one 'new' word. There's even a word for the aforementioned action...its called a Portmanteau. Ha! Are we in that much of a hurry? Buzz word or not it doesn't change that fact that by definition the entrepreneurial Mum or Mom (for any American readers) is out there and is 'making it happen'.
Am I a Mumpreneur? Well I am a Mum, so that's the first part covered. Re, the second part...let's see, I started a freelance writing business 5 years ago, I decided that I loved working for myself so much that I started another business baking and designing gorgeous decorative cupcakes. Then I wanted to create a website, so I started a site for the cupcake business (www.makeminepink.com.au). I plan to write a book about motivating women and in particular Mums. I want to form a resource hub for other women looking to start their own business....the list keeps growing. So there you have it, It's not world domination but I do have some big ideas
The next question…who am I trying to reach in my blog? I want to talk to all the Mum's who are running their own business or the ones who are thinking about grabbing the bull by the horns and launching their own idea or business. If there is one thing I have discovered, we are the best resource for each other. Only someone else in your shoes can possibly understand or have any insight into what you are feeling, thinking or doing. Let's pool these vast ponds of knowledge and work together to Make It Happen!
Before I forget, I should get something straight with you from the get-go. I am truly passionate about being a Mum AND a business woman. I'm proud that my mother and my mother's mother and so on have helped create a world where I can reach my dreams and still enjoy the irreplaceable spoils of giving birth to and raising children. I don't forget that for a moment.
Over coming posts, I'm looking forward to sharing my thoughts on things like finding that elusive work/life balance, creating opportunities, networking, working from home, working with and around your family...and so on.
I look forward to sharing my world with you.
