My Fake Baby

Here is something that made me do a double take; it’s a range of dolls that are made to look like real babies. These reborns that can cost up to $1000, are popular with collectors, or those that cannot have, or do not want children of their own. They come with a wide range of accessories such as an umbilical cord keepsake or heartbeat. Some of them even have open nostrils that give the appearance of breathing. Creepy!

These dolls are so life like that police in Gympie broke into a car to rescue what they thought was a baby in distress. It turned out that it was not a baby at all but a reborn.
Really Long Link

UKs Channel 4 recently screened a documentary about the motivations of people that purchase these dolls, such as a grandmother that missed her grandson so much when the family moved to the other side of the world she had a life like replica of him made.

Another couple did not want to have a real baby of their own due to the impact on their lifestyle, however, they wanted some of the perks of having a baby, such as people stopping to talk to them in the street a when they are pushing their pram. Weird

Below is a cut down 3 minute version of the documentary.

If you want to see the full 10 minute version follow this link. Really Long Link

There should be no perks unless there are hard yards.

You're right Sara, that is weird.

My husband just said, "No pukes, no perks".

Love & stuff

Ha ha no puke no perks I love it!
Thing is people might stop to chat to that woman and have a look at her "baby" but once they realise its not real they will just think she is a nutter and move swiftly on!

I agree Hazel just too creepy. Fake babies don't smile and get exited just because you are there though do they? Those are the real benefits of being a mum!
