The Best Things In Life
October 23rd 2009 03:52
As it’s the end of the week and in the interest of rejuvenating any flailing spirits…mine included… I thought I would compile my very own ‘Best Things’ list. This is certainly a fun way to remember what is really important in life. Why not try it for yourself. Try to really think about your answers and not just put down the most obvious ones. See how it makes you feel.
Here’s my take on the simple things in my life that never fail to make me smile….in no particular order because they’re all fabulous!
The five ‘Best Things’ about being a mum:
1. The koala grip cuddles and glorious kisses.
2. That I can miraculously make them feel better when they’re sick or hurt.
3. Seeing them really and truly happy just doing the simplest thing with you…like watering the garden.
4. Watching my babies play together, making each other laugh and growing closer as brother and sister.
5. The journey itself…learning to trust my instincts and trust that even the most challenging stage will always transition into something better, more manageable, easier….
The five ‘Best Things’ about my husband:
1. He pursued a noble vocation improving the lives of others and really making a difference.
2. He will tell me the same joke or story over and over because he knows it will always make me laugh.
3. He isn’t afraid to dance, even though he has no rhythm whatsoever!
4. His “absolutely crucial” idiosyncrasies conducted on a daily basis.
5. How much he values his role as a father.
The five ‘Best Things’ about my mum, dad and sisters:
1. When my sisters and I laugh so much that we all have tears streaming down our faces.
2. When we all talk at the same time yet still manage to understand each other…except dad (must be a girl thing).
3. When mum stays over and the guest bedroom smells of her perfume for days and days after she’s gone so that every time I pass the room I think of her.
4. The way the family home instantly embraces me so I feel like I’m a kid again…no matter how much it is refurbished and renovated and redecorated!
5. Though we are separated by oceans and distance we always keep in touch and stay in each others’ lives.
The five ‘Best Things’ about running my own business:
1. Actually getting paid to do something I love.
2. Being able to work from home.
3. Taking control of my own destiny and capacity to achieve.
4. The tests, trials and tribulations of self employment ensure I am constantly improving.
5. Being confident in my skills and understanding how to sell myself.
